I am for the piping hot water method. Works on most stuck screw lids like jam jars and ring that hold fuel sender unit to tank.

They are a PITA sometimes (usually). A thump with a screwdriver is what I end up doing. At least there's no danger of it popping off the master...

Problem solved. I poured a little hot water over the cap and it turned quite easily. previously it wouldn't budge and I have quite a strong grip....

In terms of the 451, the 84 turbo is quite reliable, as is the NA 61 or 71bhp cars (non-MHD). The clutch actuator on them can go awry by the looks of...

Test by having engine running, turn main lights on. Switch of engine and open door - buzzer should sound to remind you lights are on. John

Being a smart, wont that cause some other problem - like a wrongly fitted tail lamp bulb will screw up the transmission?

OP - why are you asking this? If it is for MOT, dash warning light is sufficient for MOT (one or the other, visual or audible).

From memory, SAM equipped cars have a synthesised sound. Don't know what it plays through though.
