For those of you with the auto box, dont repeat this....

Pull up on flat ground,
Dont apply the hand brake,
Open the door and jump out to open the garage...

Watch the car drive off without you :?

With any other smart you get out with the car in gear and the gear is deselected. But with the ForFour it stays in gear and as soon as your foot is off the brake the creep function kicks in and off goes the car.... genius

Badger if you search the posts you can read about when my 4-4 rolled down the drive and dropped of the end into the garden. You have to leave it in gear really because the handbrake utilises the disc brakes and unlike drum brakes when they cool they can shrink and thus give....my 4-4 only rolled about 2 feet but it was almost a disaster!

jeez how to screw up from one type of autobox to another

Is this becoming quite common now in other autoboxes?

Its not a autobox, its the same as the ForTwo, Roadster (i.e computer controlled clutch/gears). Though it uses gear pre-selection to speed up the gear changes. No damage done, just suprised me that thats what is does.
