All steel wheels will rust, however you can treat them with Kure Rust, this will prevent them rusting further but you have to repaint the wheels silver, as the treatment turns the wheels black where ever there is rust.

Hope this helps

seems to be part of the smart experience. The non locking wheel nuts on our Passion are very rusty and unattractive. Its hard enough to keep the wheels clean without worrying about the nuts :(

Seems like a worthy excuse to upgrade to decent whels

You can get them shot blasted and repainted. I like steels, have you seen the super deep dished steels from S-Mann? Big (http://www.bigperformance.co.uk) advertises them as alloy's but they are steels. You can have 7" rims with 205's all round!!!

56:@Ab Fab aren't they 56:@ Been around for a while.

Remember seeing those when I first started thinking 'I need a smart'. Still got the stupid hard to clean standard wheels unfortunatly.

Has anybody else had the same experience? When I changed from new Bridgestones on steel wheels to part worn Continentals on 2nd hand alloys the road noise was considerably less. Is this down to the change of tyres or twheels?

in a word.....tyres!!

Because they're new or because they're Bridgestones? :?

Get a cabby, you know it makes sense. Obviously to me it didn't, coz I didn't buy one :?
