Somewhere on the boards, I've seen a posting about what I think is called a "Panel Repair Kit"? ....basically, it's a pack of all the clips and screws for a panel-swap.

I'm thinking of swapping panels, but don't really want to remove all of the clips and dismantle my existing set.

Anyone know the Smart part number and cost for this.... I think I saw one on eBay a while back for about テつ」25 ? Just phoned Smart of Nottingham and they tell me I need 3 different packs at a total of テつ」53.32! Somehow, I don't trust them!

cheers,

You won't need all the clips and screws in the panel fixing set. I have done quite a few swaps and the only ones you are likely to need are the keyhole clips on the rear arches (Q0001781V002000000 テつ」0.28 each x 6 max), a few of the metal clips that hold the panels together (Q0007371V000000000 テつ」0.19 each), and on mk6's and cabrios, the plastic rivets that hold the front spoiler and rear heatshield (Q0007370V000000000 テつ」0.23 each).

Two or three of each will cover you against accidental breakage during the job.

Hope this helps :cool:spf

The 'under a tenner' parts are kept on a secret list which only i have access to. That's why other smart dealers want テつ」53.00 for a couple of kits!

Wasn't intending to.... unless someone offers me the price of what the bog-standard red panels cost me second-hand, plus the cost of the glitter-job... looking at about テつ」750!

Thanks John,

as always... very helpful. You don't fancy moving up to Smart of Nottingham do you :P

It was the little metal panel clips I needed, along with the metal screw "nut-clips". Thankfully, I didn't break any of the white wheel-arch pegs.

I have an SMann front spoiler and Blindschleiche valance, so just used the screws that were in situ for those.

cheers,

D. :dude:

Is this the inside boot panel or the side panels in the boot. I'd like some speakers in the back of mine but still really need to retain the boot space.

Opps, sorry. Post hijack...:D

The inside panel, so when the boot is closed, the speakers will be facing the front, and in prolly gonna put the sub in the middle....
I'll make a new post later when ive finalised my ideas.... and worked out where im gonna get the cash..... i reckon im only gonna need about 150 ish to do this.
Thanks, as ever, John!
Although my Dad is confident he can help me get it done 1st time with no backup needed... so at least i know its there... and only 30 bucks

just do what i did bought a second set of panels and kept all the screws and clips and now have a pot full for a rainey day, although i have yet to break a clip on a panel swap (touch wood) its nice to be able to make up the other set and then change them over!
