I must admit I have contributed less & less as the years have passed. The club spirit to owning a Smart has disappeared, which is a shame, it's now just another car. No more waving to other Smarts,...
My car boosts to 1.0 Bar overboost for overtaking & drops back to 0.8 Bar after about 10 seconds of hard acceleration.
I read somewhere about the IAT or MAP sensor giving false readings to the ECU...
Being you haven't used the car much & only as you say around town, maybe it's condensation?
Was the radiator water level low when you checked it? If not it's not water from there.
Before I had...
We still run our two 450's. Bought the wifes one in 2003 & mine in 2005. Still used daily & I still enjoy the quirkiness of the original Smarts. I recently had to have some work done on mine, so a...
Sounds like success of a sort. What are you trying to log?
Sorry, never tried that function on the Delphi. Used live data to check stuff but never the FR option.
I'll have a look to see if I can work it out, but don't hold your breath...lol
Good luck.
You can download the manuals here, https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/support/manuals/19363
Don't know if this helps.
What has happened to me is the outside door handle sticks slightly & doesn't go back in properly. Bit of silicon spray on the plastic handle did the trick.
I've also heard that the cable from the...
I remember years ago watching my dad hitting opposite sides of the drum with two hammers simultaneously, to get the drum off. It worked for him.
How long has that been in build?
Who owns TVR now? Last I knew was some young Russian guy.
I think about the same as how long is a piece of string!
When I hurt my back, my car didn't move for 6 weeks. Alternator was OK, but the rear brakes seized on.
Not really a problem just have to be...
Sounds like you're having fun Paul!
I don't know if this helps https://www.fq101.co.uk/how-to-guides/fortwo-450/electrical/251-sam-wiring
It does mention the door locks & wire colours, good luck....
That's a bummer, but at least you found out before you bought.
Sounds like fun for the summer.
Glad you managed to find a solution. Have you a picture of it apart?
Martin.
It looks like it joins about halfway along. I should imagine it would be very tight & probably locktighted.
Hi Paul,
looking at the top picture, it looks like the main body is made in two pieces.
There are flats for spanners in two places. Does it just unscrew?
Just a thought.
Martin.
WOW!
Think you found the problem...lol
Hi Paul
Sounds like a wiring insulation fault at the door hinge where the wires go from the body to the door, probably chaffed through at some point.
good luck
Martin
When did it have an oil change? Maybe a clogged oil filter might cause this. Simple & fairly cheap job to do. Just a thought.
Never heard of it, but that's not to say it isn't any good.
The only thing I noticed is that it's made to MB229.3 not MB229.5.
What difference this makes, I've not got a scooby.
I thought about the powerflex bushes, but thought the original mount was good enough for 100+K miles, so didn't bother.
Do you think the additional mount was worthwhile? pros/cons?
Rob asked me if I wanted the whole mount changed, which would of taken a lot longer & risked sheared bolts in the engine block or just the half with the rubber, which is the normal choice. After we...
Finally got round to getting the front engine mount changed on my car. What a difference it's made! No more clonking when pulling away & the gear changes are smoother, as the engine doesn't rock...
Ouch! but at least you've got your car back on the road. Now go & have some fun :-)
