Stripey had a rebuild at 44k miles in Jan 08 and is feeling like he's in need of another now he's on 82k miles. He's just had a new turbo fitted after dying en-route to Brooklands but he just doesn't feel right. I'm hoping that another rebuild isn't on the cards just yet.
Just had 599cc cabby done by a well known rebuilder! only done 28k

Doing it right now! What started as a squeak is now 6 new valves, 3 sets of piston rings, full set of bolts, head skim and lots and lots of gaskets, seals etc.... nearly £400 in parts alone arrrghhh. I'm doing the labour myself to keep costs down, but my background is in Helicopters and gas turbines, which i must add are a B***** lot easier to work on!!!!!
Oh well, good job i love my little Storm! (600 / 450)
Finished! And she runs like a dream......
Mine is a 2000 model and had a new engine in 2006 then it had a complete engine rebuild by digitec in 2007 and now I have it out stripped down for another complete rebuild due to sticky piston rings.
I bought a 600cc petrol as a punt from ebay for £2000 about 5 years ago and it had a leaking head gasket and had clearly needed a replacement exhaust valve because there was a receipt for one and some rings. That had about 60k on it and the head gasket finally gave out at arounk 80k. I replaced that in situ and it's now got over 90k on it. Personally, I think the general reliability of them is rubbish compared to Japanese made vehicles. I've had more trouble with this than any other Japanese car I've owned in the past 20 years. I have no idea why I'm so attached to the damned thing, I think it's an illness.
I've just completed a rebuild on a 2002 Pure with 107,000+ miles on the clock and this was clearly the second rebuild from what I found.
