    Traction control - OFF - 451

Engine off - Press and hold both dash/speedo buttons.** Start engine whilst still holding those two buttons.
    Traction control is off

Will be re-enabled when you next turn the engine off.

** Is a lot easier if you have big hands/long fingers (Oo err missus)
I have , so it's an upside down thumb and forefinger right hand, and left hand to start engine.

Tolsen - I've passed it round

Sweet. Saw this on that other thread and tried it in a car park with sadie and didn't notice it kick in at all. BUt that was in the last snow where my esp wouldn't kick in anyway.

    Sticky please!

I wonder whether this trick only works on the diesel 451. Discussions about it on the Canadian Club Smart Car forum was concerning the Cdi.

Sadie was present . It's hard to tell if it worked though, cos I managed to get him to spin with it still on anyway. Not sure if his esp is really working properly as I've had a few hairy moments lol. Not complaining as I actually feel the esp kicks in too early anyway

Innit. Will do when I find somewhere empty and I have sades with me. Has anyone else found their car lets them slide a fair amount without the esp kicking in when it's supposed to be on? Or is it just my car? Not complaining as it is good fun

Just want to state the obvious, but if you're in an accident and your insurance company finds out you've turned the traction control off, you might not be covered. It would be difficult to prove if it resets it self when you next start the car of course.

I think we are all sensible driver and only turn ESP off whenever there is a need such as stuck in snow or driving up steep slippery hills. With the 451, there is no way anyone will find out unless the driver volunteers the information himself.
