How would you remove wheel weights? (The flat ones stuck inside the wheel)
And is it easy to do without damaging the wheel?
I'd go and ask a tyre place to do them, they should do them for free if they are like my place near me!
it's simply double sided adhesive foam tape
you prize them off with a screwdriver (protecting the rim of course with a bit of thick card - use something else as well to act as a pivot point for your screwdriver )
then you'll have to remove the adhesive remains , with some adhesive remover or just a bit of elbow grease
Yup, then something like autosmart tardis (cheap bottles on ebay avaailable) to remove the glue safely. Loads of threads over on detailingworld on how to do it without scratching your wheels
I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR... SADIE DOES!!!
There's 2 different types, the ones inside the wheel and the clip on ones that can go on the back so they aren't visible. I want to swap to the hidden ones as it looks rubbish having them visible on spikelines. Think it might be cheeky having them change them for aesthetic reasons though lol. Also I want to completely wax them, so want to take them off and then they can readd them when the tyres get fitted.
Oh no you don't...
Firstly, they balance the tyre, not the wheel.
Secondly, they are strategically place across the width of the rim. Otherwise we would all hide them behind.
Take them off and bin them. Start afresh when you get the tyres fitted. You will have to ask your tyre fitter for your preferred type.
a little trick my local well established wheel place does is mark (chalk) on the rubber where the valve is.
That way if they put the rubber back on after a puncture , it's less (can be none) work needed to re-balance it cos they simply put the rubber back in the same place
the glue can be removed with a cloth and a bit of metholated spirit![]()
