Re-directing headlights to Swedish standard.

Hi!
I have a Smart pulse that needs to be registered in Sweden. The problem is that the beams are wrongly directed since the Swedes drive on the right hand side of the road.

A garage told me I have to buy a new set of headlights with bulbs and everything and that will cost me loads. Too much to be honest!!!

I would like to know if there is any way I can re-direct the beams or do something else with my UK (almond shaped) headlights instead of buying new ones.

I don't believe they have that much adjustment available. Keep an eye out though, there are sometimes folks with LHD's who need to do the opposite to keep it in the UK.

Failing that speak to the indies on here who may have a set knocking around. I believe Digitec had a set recently but can't be certain.

Changeover was September the third, 1967, but even in the preceding 233 years of driving/riding your horse on the left, RHD cars were rare. Take those lovely Volvo 444 and 544s, all LHD from the '40s on and many - like modern Renaults - equipped with bulb holders that allow the headlamps to be aligned for LH or RH traffic in the time it takes to remove the lamp shells.

I recall being embarrassed when shopping for new lamps for my (LHD) 142S. Fortunately, the guy at GSF knew that all I had to do was rotate the bulbs and fasten them down in the LH traffic position and resisted the temptation to sell me lamps that weren't needed. Oops.
Do the Smart lamp shells not have a similarly straightforward means of altering the cutoff side?

The "almond" shaped lights do not have a built in adjustment to swap from RHD to LHD so you need complete light units. The lens although they do some "beam bending" do not do all of it and depending on who does the testing they may or may not pass any official certification.

Best option is to use the Internet and find a set of s/h ones in Europe somewhere you can purchase.
Actually swapping them over is easy.
