    Ignition wont turn

Rather annoyingly my key sometimes just won't turn ....Any ideas ?

The dealership recommended buying a new ignition barrel, but this comes with the whole gearshift assembly !!!! for 120 plus fitting.

Have you got a second key just to make sure it's definitely the barrel at fault and not that particular key that's worn/damaged ?

Yep - same result with both keys - maybe I'll just change both batteries in the keyfobs !

If it has gone, I'd try sourcing one secondhand first complete with the boot lock and the blade that fits it.

    re: key wont turn

are you sure you are not trying to turn the key when the gear is not in neutral? key will not turn unless gear is in neutral of course. (just checkin)

Does it work OK in the boot lock? If so then your barrel is worn or the locking mechanism is faulty. Dismantle it and you will be able to tell which. If the boot lock doesn't work well either then it's the key.

As this is in the 451 section you can ignore all the boot lock suggestions as 451s don't have them, try it in the emergency lock in the passenger door instead (you'll have to remove the little cover)

Another question/suggestion, could something have been dropped down the key slot (bit of crisp, sweet etc) as if the key won't go all the way in that will make it hard to turn....other than that, not too sure really

I think this has been posted in the wrong section as I believe the OP had a Brabus 450.
