Unhappy Battery dead and door cable snapped

Hi everyone. I'm in a bit of trouble here, so I've registered on these forums (which I have lurked on for so many years) seeking out help.

My car has been standing for too long out in the cold winters of Norway, and the battery has died. "No problem, I'll just open the bonnet and charge the battery" I thought, and of course pulled the handle a bit too hard, snapping the little plastic hook on the door cable (second time now).

So now I can't open the door with my key, and I can't charge the battery. What do I do?

Suggestions will be awarded with enough thanks to fill at least six swimming pools!

You need Gaz to tell you how to get into the car. If you were a regular with loads of posts I would send you the info but as you are not I would ring you on a land line not a mobile and tell you. But as you are in Norway that would cost me an arm and a leg so I am afraid I can't help. Gaz however lives in Norway so may be able to help you.

Thanks, BRABUS. Yes, calling would probably be quite expensive for you (and me, I think?)!

I've been told I could scrape some insulation off a wire going from the dynamo if I get a bit under the car on the back right side and might be able to hook a battery booster pack cable to it so I can use the key button to open it.
Sounds difficult (and I'd need to buy/loan a booster), but I'd rather do that than try to open it by reaching for the internal handle through the sun roof with some kind of hook, I guess. I feel pretty idiotic for letting the battery die now.

    You have PM Fawesum....

Do NOT start messing with alternator (it's not a dynamo..unless you have a 1957 version car...hehe).
    Too easy to damage them.
Read my PM, and get back to me if needed.
