So it was time to sort this out, but don’t freak the next photo is not an idea of my polishing skills! There was no alternative, the car was going into the bodyshop (something that worried me as much as the paint guy when he found out about my detailing background)!

After four + weeks the car was finally done, but with the paint still fresh I was left literally watching paint dry as i saw little point polishing the car till I could seal it. So I busied myself with everything else that I could of the following weekends
Starting with the interior, and again it was time to strip parts off 

    02-4
    Nice!

I then turned my attentions to the wheels, intending on a deep thorough clean

Having been blown away by Britemax’s Ironmax there was no other choice for me. Really loving this product, great cleaning ability, combining great wheel cleaning, mild degreasing and of course iron decontamination, all while still being PH neutral and more gentle than others using more lethal variations of the active ingredient

    02-15
    Quick spray

    02-16
    And then a quick agitation

    02-17
After a quick rinse, tar deposits were dealt with by means of AutoBrite Directs Just the Tonic

    02-18
And then a quick claybarring to make sure they was perfectly cleaned and contaminant free, ready for sealing

    02-20
After a quick IPA wipedown, it was onto some Nanolex Professional V1 to add some long lasting protection

    02-21
    Looking much better now!

The following weekend it was onto the roof

    02-23
Just a few bits n pieces to tidy up first

    02-26

    02-28
Setting to it with a weak Valet Pro Citrus wash to clean the fabric and plenty of MF towels and clean warm water to thoroughly flush the cleaner out

    02-29
After some dwell time, a gentle agitation to bring the dirt to the surface

    02-30
And a few more persistent areas dealt with a more detailed brush

    02-31

I then gave the car a quick wash via the usual 2BM and a (soon to be retired) Flexipads Merino lambswool mitt

    02-32
And again dealing with the more detailed areas

    02-33
And then dried with a soft MF Towel

    02-34
With galss having also been cleaned a given a quick clay it was time to seal the glass with Nanolex’s awesome Glass Ultra

    02-35

    02-38
And left to cure, before being buffed off

With the roof now dry, any lint was removed

    02-39
    Before applying Nanolex Hood Sealant

    02-40
    Now looking much tidier

Another weekend another session, and now it was time to cut out the crap! While the car looked amazing after the bodyshop had finished with it, after a few gentle washes, all the fillers had fallen out and I realised I had my work cut out! I had planned a whole 2 days to sort the paintwork, but due to sickness in the family, I had one day before the car was due to be on show at a Smart specialist’s open day BBQ while I detailed in front of over 100 enthusiasts throughout the day!
So getting up at 6 am I was outside ready to go at 6.30, just as the sun rose!
First job wash breaking in my brand new Dooka wash mitt! Really enjoy using this, soo soft and gentle, I also loved the on brand colour!

    03-1
A quick Iron decontamination (just in case, although it didn’t yield any)

    03-3
And a thorough claybarring, which only removed some light overspray in a few places. This was done using Autofinesse Clay and ONR as lube

    03-2
Once rinsed the car was gently dried using various soft Microfibre towels

The car was then wheeled under cover and some readings taken, clearly showing high paint readings from the respray

    03-5
And a few VERY high readings!

    03-6
It was easy to see the buffer trails and general swirling left in the paint. I had a long day ahead of me

And even under normal halogens the work t to be done was clear

    03-14
All pads were cleaned to make sure no pig tails were inflicted

    03-15
And panels given a quick IPA wipe before polishing to make sure they was perfectly clean

    03-16
I also insist on massaging polish into the entire face of the pad on the first set to remove any chance of dry buffing and good lubrication

    03-17
And Carpro Eraser used to remove any polishing oils ready to inspect my work under a DW solar torch using a Solux Bulb
