    Cabrio Roof Cable/Gear Replacement

So each side costs 90 in parts (plus p&p), and I have no idea what is involved in changing them. Ball & Brown are charging 250 inc parts, and I do visit Lancashire occasionally. Can't decide whether to have a go myself. Does anyone have any pics to illustrate?

    Question

    Has anyone done this DIY?

    Best source for replacement parts?

    Any hints or tips?

I can still just about get away with manually assisting while the motors do most of the work, but it would be nice to fix.

Has anyone found an suitable replacement gear?

The Roadster Motor Gear, which only costs a tenner, has a splined fitting, I presume the 450 is not splined, or is a different size?

BMW, Merc, and Renault all seem to have very similar gears, all for about a fiver

What is so special about the 450 Cabrio that you have to spend 200 to replace both gears?
