Low oil pressure can put years on your engine in weeks /days or less

ALWAYS listen to the oil pressure light, ALWAYS!
If it really is low oil pressure, it can kill your engine very quickly in a very expensive manner

So you need to find out as a matter of urgency if it's actual low oil pressure or lying to you by way of a faulty sensor.
You're so money supermarket and you don't even know it!

Ok, well it's been two days now since it started to appear.

So what is actually happening with low oil pressure and what causes it?

Low oil pressure is when a bearing or bearings have worn and cannot contain the oil hence the pressure drops away. It can also be caused by a defective pump in which case RIS's assertion of ensuing damage is correct. If it is the former scenario the chances are the damage is done (major engine internals needing expensive remedial work).
There is the possibility it is only the turbo losing pressure though and 'sluggish' could be a sign of that.
For now, if I were you I'd attend to the breathers as previously discussed, look thoroughly for the source of the leak, and take things from there. Do nothing and there'l be a con rod between your shoulder blades before long.

Even if I had one, I wouldn't know how to check the pressure!

I'm not a mechanic so I can't fix this myself. It'll have to go to a garage asap, assuming I can now drive it there. I'm wondering if a local independent garage could sort it? I certainly won't do nothing. I'll take it to a garage asap.

There is definitely sluggishness, when I pulled away from a junction, slightly uphill, the car felt very slow to move.

How would the oil leak affect all this?

There's certainly enough oil in the car too having just topped up.

I was teasing, but the light end of things really is fine, yeah faulty sensor, damaged wiring or actual low oil pressure will be pinging the light (pardon the pun/reference)

Faulty wiring is a possibility perhaps because of all the water that leaks into my car? I hope it's that simple, I really do! I'm scared now about driving my car.

Above image shows your oil pressure switch.
Oil warning lamp will light up when pressure drops below 0.35 bar.
Suggest you also check wiring near oil pressure switch. It has happened before on these engine that the cable touches and grounds against metal causing oil warning lamp to flicker.

Thanks but I'm still none the wiser. I have no idea where to look and I'm not a mechanic!
