451 diesel gearbox update

I thought the 451 had transponder coding too at the factory. I don't know why I thought that, probably me being wrong again. The number of problems I have had trying to sort out these things on Mercs makes me think I should find another hobby, I just hate messing with them but if the Smart doesn't have them then that is a big plus.

Still cheaper than original Smart keys and no need to jump through hoops when ordering.

Hi there!

I've just red most of the posts and got really sad when the end came an no solution was found. Have you been able to solve this? Have a '09 45hp cdi with the 3rd gear error. New actuator, new clutch, used gearbox - exactly the same. Now I'll try another gearbox wiring loom, but I'm honestly not expecting good news. Any lights here?

No solution. I broke the car.

I am aware of two other cars with the same problem and no solution was found for those either.

There is a thread on Clubsmart car that concludes the issue is caused by water ingress into gear change motors.

Certainly not that on mine. I rebuilt two of them and neither fixed it.
