    Mine has felt over the engine hatch, foam forward of that. Either is more durable than the oil control rings and the flaky engine management strategy that cannot cope with the ensuing oil consumption.

    If you don't have the poles and the cover you are stuffed doing that. Have you seen the price of the covers for a 451, it is over 5% of what the car cost me, no thanks.

    Looks insecure to me. Might be better if rear parcel shelf rod together with its cover was pulled down as far as it possibly can go.

    It is strange that this really is one of the epic design problems in Smart cars and they only made it worse in the 451.

    Worst got to be the 453 models. They have six bolts holding engine cover each requiring at least ten turns to undo.
