    Noisy rattle on tickover

    Good evening all,
My 2009 fourtwo has started making a noisy rattling sound on tickover, but tends to go
when revving or pulling away. I've put it in a garage I trust implicitly but they are not Smart
experts, their initial diagnosis is possibly the dual mass flywheel, in your collective opinions
if this is the case, is it worth fixing or scrapping and any ideas on cost?
    It's done 58k.

    Regards Chris

Find a new garage. It doesn't have a dmf!

    It's not a fourtwo either.

My suspicion would be clutch fault - your garage presumably felt the noise was from that area.

This is my mistake, they actually said clutch, it was me trying to be clever
, and I can assure you that if I had thought it would have been safe to drive
further it would have been down to your place for sorting

    regards Chris

    Quite!
With so few members here - can we afford to be so standoffish? Or are we only here to promote an other smart forum?

I prefer to call it a forten, I really should get out more and leave this binary on the computer.

Thank you for all your input, very helpful and some funny
and I'll let you all know how I get on.
I am quite taken with the car and probably will be looking for
a turbo version next and then lil.smartie will be getting another
    visit

    regards Chris

Well it's been just over a couple of weeks since I had the clutch replaced and done
about 300 miles and it all seems good and definitely quieter than before, so all good.

    regards Chris
