Did have lots of numeric panels but now only have a front centre panel left - sorry.

Thats a shame, some sod walloped you or self inflicted?

Wife was rear ended by a young nurse returning home after her night shift.
Her insurance will pay for the damage. Have to wait before buying the panels myself. They will probably write it off (again).

Yikes, that is awful, especially with it being a Aqua panelled car. Don't let the insurance company write it off!

    I would beg to differ.

Let them write it off. Insist on them paying out royally as your car had limited edition panels and it won't be easy to find another one with the same.
Then buy back the salvage, replace the affected panels, pocket the difference.

You will get paid out far more handsomely than it being CAT D registered would ever affect the resale value.

Better not to write it off but take a payment in lieu of repair. That way it will not be registered as having been written off at all.

Agreed in this case, unless future values go through the roof for some reason. I'd take a load of photos showing just how minimal, and cosmetic the damage is as well as it would help any future sale.

We had it written off a few years ago by a deer and pocketed a few hundred from cash payout in lieu of repair.
Decided to accept 250 from the crasher in this case.
