Throttle hesitation on upchange in to second gear only

My car has always done this, with the previous engine as well.

Any thoughts about what I should check?

Mine (sometimes) after the next upshift (usually into 4th or 5th) finishing a hurried overtake, drops power for a few seconds. No idea why other than suspect its the hole in the air created by the vehicle I'm passing.

3>4 and 4>3 gear changes are longer than the rest as two cogs are being swapped - the suprex gearbox is a 3 speed box with two final drive cogs - so 1>2>3 and 4>5>6 are quicker than 3>4 and vice versa.

It's not that. The gear is engaged and there is a pause of several seconds before the motor wants to pull. Just hangs there in gear doing not very much. Only occasionally though and AFAIR, always during overtaking.

It's as if the ECU doesn't know that the clutch re-engaged, but it only happens with 2nd in my car, so perhaps it doesn't know that 2nd has been selected?

But if it doesn't know that 2nd has been selected, how does the clutch know to re-engage?

Is there a specific sensor for each gear selected (or rather three of the gears)?

Sensing hardware serves/shared for all gears.

Mine occasionally stumbles while it deduces that it actually wants to select 2nd gear. It feels like it has selected 2nd then has a rethink then decides it was right after all. Very occasionally and only ever at junctions. Mine could do with a clutch re-teach though.

Possibly the gearbox drum/turn sensor is contaminated/worn and (for now) itís just affecting that particular change.?

Possibly a worn patch on the track of the accelerator pedal? If it has transferred across a engine change, then the issue must be in something that is still common - Did you change the gearbox at the same time?
