sorry to bring this up again, I can not see anywhere where this pipe is suppose to terminate, but it does go somewhere, when the engine running it is loosing the vacuum generated by the pump for the brakes and egr etc, the the end of the pipe is badly cut like its broken off something rather than a nice clean factory cut,

Another pic, BLUE ARROW is coolant pipe that it clips to,
THE RED ARROW is the pipe that we cant find where the other end is meant to go ,

on evilution under cdi egr clean and I can see the pipe,

What is vacuum powered on your Smart? EGR, brake booster, ??

i would simply blank off that hose and see what happens. Perhaps you’ll get a fault code that may tell you where to look. At least by blanking off you won’t loose vacuum.

I think that loose end was originally blanked off.

You say yours has no vacuum controlled turbo waste gate. In that case only EGR and brake booster are vacuum powered. I assume vacuum "supply" to EGR solenoid is from main vacuum pipe to brake booster at check valve.

    just on a different note,
i had one come in to me yesterday still running 2005 450 fortwo , (only on two cylinders and badly rattling ) i stripped it and you wouldn't believe the state of the piston, il upload a photo later, she used for work still 4 days after it happened and her dad said that will be ok ,ha ha i have known of many coach and trucks coming back with one cylinder down from France or Germany etc but that with either a v8 or a straight 6,, we have a Volvo f12 tractor unit come in with a banging and we stripped it to find crankshaft was snapped in half across a journal, but got him and his trailer all the way back from turkey,,

How many cylinders did you expect it to run on?
