    Cruise Control Delatches

Many years ago I retro-fitted Cruise Control, but I can't now find any details of the unit I fitted

It has worked perfectly until recently

Now it latches and operates fine for 30 seconds or so when first operated, then delatches

I can try again, but then it will delatch after 10 seconds

After a few more times it won't latch at all

The fact it does latch suggests that there is no problem with the speed sensor (or brake pedal test)

    Any suggestions?

Faulty capacitors perhaps? Might try replacing any electrolytics on the control board just in case (haven't checked the board yet as it is tucked away and awkward to reach)

As it is an aftermarket rather than OEM cruise unit (MDC perchance?) then it won't error in the same way as the genuine Smart one.
I would be checking your reluctor rings for splits, missing teeth or general crud/corrosion.

    Many thanks, will do so

From memory the fronts are fine, and the rears I replaced about three years ago

Doesn't mean they are ok today though ... they could have easily have corroded again in three years

It could be a dodgy wheel sensor/wiring too though if they are confirmed in good nick today.
Could be poor connections to the board itself

Also check your tyre pressures ?, or have you replaced any recently ?

Check the connectors and print of the MDC box.
I had my MDC -cc removed and got the original cc working with a MB Star

    I will do that thanks

It is definitely intermittent, as Cruise worked fine on the way to the airport last week

I'm wondering whether it will start under its own steam when we return in a week's time, as the battery isn't great (I'm too mean to replace it unless I really have to!)
