    Weird Door Lock Puzzle

The Passenger door hasn't locked for a while since the car was laid up

    Recently I decided to investigate

I found that the lock does operate when the door is open

It will lock and stay locked with the door open

    It will also unlock

When the door is closed it doesn't operate at all

When drivers door is open it will lock then automatically unlock

So when the Passenger door is open it behaves as if it's closed

When it's closed it doesn't do anything at all

Any idea what is going on?

My first thought would be looking for chaffing of the wiring where it goes between the car body & the door.
Then take the lock out & check the micro switch continuity. There is a guide on Evilution that could help.
    Good luck.

Whilst itís not impossible itís a damaged wiring problem (where it flexís most), itís more likely in my mind that the switch that senses the lock has caught on the hasp (ergo confirming the door is closed) is faulty/damaged or in the wrong position relative to the mechanics of the lock.

When drivers door is open it will lock then automatically unlock
Thatís simply the working door overriding any problem on the other door.
You're so money supermarket and you don't even know it!

I thought that the correct operation was that any open door should lock then unlock automatically

Where is the door position switch? I can't find any mention on FQ101 or Evilution

The door closed switch is built into the door catch.

    Many thanks

My subscription expired six months ago, so I had to renew to view the page

Should help me diagnose the issue - if I can be bothered to remove both inner and outer door skins, which is a bit of a faff
