    Hyperactive ABS

My ABS is triggering for no reason. It doesn't seem to matter if I am braking hard or soft, on smooth or rough ground. Sometimes I can hear the pump activating whilst driving along a perfectly flat dry road. DAS is giving a fault code C1159 'Implausible signal from stop lamp switch' which didn't come as a great surprise because I know the switches cause problems with ABS. But I have replaced the switch and checked all the wiring I can see but the problem persists and the fault code is still there. I'm running our of ideas. Can anyone suggest what to do next? Has anyone experienced a similar problem.

It's a 2007 Roadster Coupe by the way. I posted this here rather than the Roadster page because I believe the ABS on all Smarts from this year is near enough the same so I wanted to ask for advice from ForTwo/ForFour etc. owners too.

Reluctor ring buggered. Buy one off ebay, do not go to Mercedes, they will sell you a drive shaft for loads of but the rings on ebay are only a few quid. There are threads about it if you search the forum.

That's the normal reason for ABS doing that but it may also be your brake light switch though active ABS is not common for that fault though not unheard of.

What Mjolinor says. My ABS used to 'chirp' as you came to a stop due to rusted through reluctors. These are the reluctor rings I bought.

Before you go replacing reluctor rings, check tyre pressures and sizes. Have you fitted new tyres recently?

Photobucket has reluctantly reinstated broken image links although only for a limited time.

    Replace reluctor rings.
Then get yourself registered with www.theroadster.net as that's the main Roadster forum.

Aye, but the questions being asked are about elements of the car identical to a 450 - therefore a benefit to all on this forum.
Why don't you make an effort to promote TRN elsewhere instead of poaching from this forum?

When I find 450 owners on Roadster pages I point them here.
It's all about giving each owner the best experience.
As a Roadster owner that's on theroadster.net - not on smartz.
