    Hambach - no more smarts?

    There's a line in the piece:

    ''a major attraction is the fact that Daimler has equipped the Hambach plant fairly recently to build a larger SUV model, alongside the Smart two-seat city cars that have always been its main output.''

    Can't figure out which SUV was intended - a smart or a Mercedes - and if this is the end of fortwo production at Hambach, the end of fortwo production completely.

    Maybe Mercedes no longer need smart to reduce its corporate average CO2 emissions now it has hybrid and electric versions of mainstream MB models.

    Looks like it's going to be the Ineos Grenadier! Very green...lol!
    That's a blow to the people of Wales where the factory was going to be.

    Or an attempt to extract financial concessions from the Welsh or UK government(s)?......

    It's hard to make sense of anything. I noticed Ineos sponsorship on the Mercedes F1 car and he it is proposing to buy a facility owned by Mercedes. But the drivetrains for the Grenadier are to be supplied by BMW.

    Very little sign that the Ebbw Vale TVR factory will ever open either
