Post Hibernation Recommissioning
I tried to start the engine after five months sat in the garage
I did attempt to charge the battery first, but the engine turned over so slowly that it wouldn't fire
Eventually I tried attaching a spare battery, and it did fire, squealed a lot, and then died about 2 seconds later
It took me several attempts before I realised that the alternator was seized - I didn't think that would happen in a dry garage, even over the winter
It took me some time to get some oil sprayed in to it but that still didn't work
I had to use a 24mm spanner to free it up, complicated by the fact that I have a couple of seized wheel nuts on that wheel, so I can't remove the wheel
After all that it did start and run well, and the battery seems to be fine, so that's £50 I'm not going to have to spend
However, I now have to sort out the Right Hand Passenger Door wiring loom issue that means I have no electric window, no door lock, and if I open the door with the engine ignition on, the main ECU fuse blows
Any advice on where I should be looking would be most welcome
And the MOT runs out tomorrow - DOH!
