Question Track Rods and Steering Damper

I'm trying to replace the track rods, but the steering damper bracket appears to be a single use item

I think there's a snap ring that is compressed like a piston ring when the track rod is inserted in to the damper bracket

But there's no way to extract the track rod in order to re-use the damper bracket

    Is that correct?

    Hi Paul,
looking at the top picture, it looks like the main body is made in two pieces.
There are flats for spanners in two places. Does it just unscrew?
    Just a thought.
    Martin.

It does look two part, but its solid as far as I can tell

I'll check again just in case I've missed something

    Thanks

It looks like it joins about halfway along. I should imagine it would be very tight & probably locktighted.

You are absolutely right, saved my bacon again Martin

This gave me my first opportunity to use my new (to me) Triton Superjaws - which I highly recommend

Glad you managed to find a solution. Have you a picture of it apart?
